Arrived at Paso Del Norte Surgery Center at 9:30 am. Had to fill out loads of paper work. A lot of it was consent forms, whether i did or did not want interns in the room or to have photographs taken. Dont care about the interns. How else are they supposed to learn? But i sure as heck didn't want pictures taken. I sat in the waiting room for what was an hour, maybe an hour and a half. i'm not even sure. My name was eventually called so i could go into the back and get ready. Had to pee in a cup. I'm guessing they were making sure I wasn't pregnant or something. Then I had to change into the gown. lol I was freaking out cause i wasn't sure whether underwear was allowed or not, but it was and that was a relief. I did have some trouble with the gown though. I wasn't sure whether it was ties to the back or front. haha. luckily i got it right, but a nurse had to help tie it up, which is normal, so she said. it's not like i had eyes in back of my head. i then followed the nurse into a small room where she asked me questions and I had to sign more papers. I was then injected with a numbing agent, which was injected into the left side of my right wrist. then came the IV. didn't feel a thing. After I was hooked up with IV, I had to sit where the children normally sit to wait for surgery. All the other chairs were full. My mom was then called into the back, but she didn't stay for long because it was taking forever. About an hour later, I got to move over into a rocking chair. finally. lol. but of course, I still was stuck waiting. it was very uncomfortable being surrounded by a bunch of other people that i didn't even know. so i sat rocking with my eyes closed. I think it was a little bit after 12:30pm when i finally got to go in for sugery. I was told to lay on the bed they had in there. Then i was tucked up nice and tight and buttons were undone to hook up whatever monitored by heartbeat. Wasn't really sure because as soon as i got on, the anaesthesia was injected. Everything went hazy and I was out cold. Lol they didn't even have to tell me to count down or anything. I awoke to find myself in the recovery room with a breathing mask on and a male nurse at my side and of course i couldn't see because i didn't have my glasses on, so i'm not even sure what he looked like, but he was old. well middle age old. He was saying some things to me that I cant even recall because i wasn't fully awake. I'm pretty sure he was telling me to breathe in through the nose and out through my mouth. I asked him why i felt like there was mucus in my throat and he said it was because of the secretions, whatever that means. Haha. and because of those secretions i'm not able to have anything that will coat my tonsils. He also gave me water and then proceeded to get my mother and sister into the room. He was telling me how everything went, but of course there was an inconsistency in one thing he said. He said that my adenoids were not removed, but the doctor had told my mom and sister that they were and that they were the biggest he had ever seen and were really deep down and hard to remove. also said that I bled alot. Anywho, I had to stay in the recovery room for about an hour, which was seriously boring. lol when my mom and arynn came in the room i had tears. they still ask why i cried. well it was the worst pain of my life. the nurse asked me to rate my pain on a scale of 1-10 and I said 6 and he said that was not good that it was supposed to be less than 5. he proceeded to ask me if i wanted morphine and I said yes. it helped quite a bit. It was around 2:30 i believe when i finally go to get out of the bed and go get dressed. lol i was in a hurry. i had to pee really bad because of alll the electrolytes that were in the IV. I also didn't want to have to walk back to the bed. i just wanted to kill two birds with one stone. so dressed and used the bathroom. Took a little bit of time since i was still under the effects of the anaesthesia which they said lasted 24 hours. my mom, arynn, and i were told that urinating and breathing release it from my system. luckily i drank so much water that i'm sure it's all gone. after coming out of the bathroom, I was put in a wheel chair and given a little barf tub in case i was going to puke. I was wheeled outside where my mom was waiting on the side of the building in her car. Got in the car and my mom gave me water and an ice pack that they had given her. I proceeded to text alba because i told her that i would. i still have yet to physically talk to her though. too irritating. I did speak shortly with dave later on at night because he was having trouble texting me. lol he said that he couldn't even understand me. that's cause it's all swollen back there. that thing between the tonsils, called the uvula is really swollen so it's really difficult to swallow. then i have to keep spitting because my saliva really wont go down. anything thick like icecream, milk, pudding, mashed potatoes is difficult. i did have a pudding when i got home the other day because i need to take my birth control and had to have something that would coat it well. Today though i used cream of chicken soup which was way better. it had to be stirred real good though because it is normally thick. it was good except for the pieces of chicken. tried to avoid them as best i could. Anywho, i was in and out of sleep since i'd gotten home. Had to take medication eventually, but it was round like 8pm which impressive i suppose since i'd gotten home hours before. I spent the night sleeping on the couch which reclines because i was told not to lay flat because i could stop breathing. so this morning i was really tired. eventually retreated to my own room and awoke around noon or so because someone needed to watch crazy old granny. she's in one of her phases. she doesn't do well with calcium. it gets high and goes straight to her head instead of her bones and she hallucinates. i fell slightly better than i did yesterday, but my whole body aches. i suppose that's because i haven't gotten good comfortable sleep. i can really feel the swelling. not just when i swallow, but like when i put my head down to rest. good thing i have the ice pack. it does good. also keeps me cool which i need because right now it wouldn't be the best idea to turn on the fan in my room. so i've typed enough. i just wanted to keep you guys updated on everything.
